Pongola Game Reserve Fishing Report

Fishing Area:
Pump Station, Elephant Bay in 3- 4m of water and towards the mountain near the trees in the water. Be careful of tree stumps and old structures that are protruding, or just below the water surface.

Average Size:
Tiger Fish caught ranged from 900gr 1.9kg. Plenty small fish taking the bait which keeps things interesting.

Other Conditions:
Due to good, and much needed, rain received on the Game Reserve and up in the catchment area of the Dam during March, the river is flowing stronger increasing the Dam level a few %. Fishing is definitely improving again. With the water being a bit murky due to the increased river inflow sardine and chicken liver was the best bait for the month.

Total Tiger Fish:
An Average of 358 Tiger Fish were caught this month off the Pongola Game Reserve boats, all of these on sardines and chicken livers.

Plenty of Barbel were caught while fishing for Tiger Fish, also caught on sardine

Bait of the Month:
Lures and spoons were not very successful during March due to the increased water flow into the Dam.
