Fishing Area:

The bay on the right as you pass where the Fish Eagle Safari Boat is moored, Pump Station, the bay as you pass the KZN Wildlife campsites towards the border, Elephant Bay in 3- 5m of water and towards the mountain near the trees in the water.

Average Size:

Tiger Fish caught during the month ranged from 1kg – 2.5kg.

Biggest Fish:

The largest one of 2.5kg’s was caught on Fly.

Other Conditions:

The Dam level continues to decrease due to the winter season with less rainfall, hopefully this will change soon with the rainy season around the corner. Be careful of tree stumps and structures that may be protruding from or just below the water level.

Total Tiger Fish:

An average of 617 Tiger Fish were caught this month off the Pongola Game Reserve boats, a big increase over last month as we move into the fishing season. About 280 of these fish were caught on Fly.

Barbel:

A number Barbel and Bream were also caught while fishing for Tiger Fish, caught on sardine and worms.

Bait of the Month:

Most were caught on fly, sardines, spinners, lures, chicken livers and live bait. They were active on a wide range of bait methods.
